Behind the Stream: A Day in the Life at Power88.FM
Written by markshannonsf on May 21, 2026
When we launched Power88.FM in Fairfield back in 2023, we had one goal: to prove that “digital” doesn’t have to mean “distant.” People often ask us, “If you’re a streaming station, do you even have a studio?” The answer is a loud, high-definition YES.
While our signal travels through the Power88.FM app and platforms like Live365, the heart of the station is right here in Solano County. Here’s a look at what happens behind the curtain as we gear up for our biggest event of the season.
05:00 AM – Fairfield Mission Control
The day starts before the sun hits the Coast Range. In the studio, the monitors are glowing with listeners tuning in from Fairfield, Vacaville, and even early risers over in the UK.
Shannon.Show kicks off the morning, but it’s more than just pressing “play.” We’re monitoring the stream health, engaging with listeners in the chat, and prepping local news that actually matters to the 707. In 2026, anyone can make a playlist—but only a neighbor can tell you why the traffic is backed up on the I-80.
11:00 AM – Prepping “The Beat Machine”
By mid-morning, the focus shifts from the airwaves to the streets. We might be a digital station, but we believe in being “boots on the ground.”
Ry at Night has been loading up The Beat Machine—our mobile unit—with the latest Power88 swag and fine-tuning our outdoor sound system. We think back to the energy at the Tomato & Vine Festival and how great it was to put faces to the usernames on our app. That local connection is why we do what we do.
02:00 PM – The Fair Strategy Session
Right now, our “Day in the Life” involves a lot of maps and logistics for the Solano County Fair (June 11–14).
Since our signal is 100% digital, we don’t have to worry about “dead zones” at the fairgrounds. We’re prepping a playlist that matches this year’s theme: “Stars, Stripes, and Carnival Lights.” Whether we’re hanging out near the McCormack Lawn or checking out the livestock exhibits, we’re making sure the Power88.FM stream is the cleanest-sounding thing you’ll hear all weekend.
Why “Streaming Only” Wins
Being a streaming-only station means we don’t deal with the static of old-school terrestrial radio. When you see us at the fair, you’ll notice:
-
Crystal Clear Audio: No crackle, no matter how deep you are in the Fairgrounds.
-
Global Access: Your friends can listen to the Fair vibes even if they’re miles away.
-
Direct Connection: You can request a song through our app while standing right in front of our booth.
Come Say Hi!
A “Day in the Life” at Power88.FM is never the same twice, but it always ends with a love for great music and our Solano County neighbors.
Join us June 11–14 at the Solano County Fair. We’ll have the music loud, the prizes ready, and the stream running 24/7.
Pro-Tip: Download the Power88.FM app before you hit the Fair gates. We’ll be announcing “App-Clusive” giveaways throughout the weekend that you won’t want to miss! Plus Shannon is the official Voice of the Solano County Fairgrounds.
